Overview

Matrix is an open protocol for decentralised, end-to-end encrypted communication, but using it well requires a capable client. Element Classic iOS is the iPhone and iPad client from Element for the Matrix network, giving users a full messaging app for rooms, direct conversations and collaboration. It is built on the MatrixSDK library. The app is a previous-generation client. It remains supported and receives security updates, but no new features or usability improvements are being added. The project recommends Element X, the next-generation mobile app, for new installations. Element Classic iOS is available on the App Store and as a TestFlight beta, and the source can be built with Xcode, XcodeGen and CocoaPods following the project's install guide. The project is dual licensed. It can be used free of charge under the GNU Affero General Public License v3 or under a paid Element Commercial License. It is aimed at people who want to run or build a Matrix client on Apple devices, and at contributors to the code or translations. License: AGPL-3.0 (or Element Commercial License). If you want the code, start with the contribution guide in the repository. For questions, use the Element iOS Matrix room or GitHub issues. The app is maintained by Element. Source: github.com/element-hq/element-ios. Rageshake bug reporting is built in. It is a mobile client for Apple devices only. No other platforms are covered. End.
