Overview
Checking CPU, memory, disk, network and process activity usually means juggling several tools across different operating systems. Glances puts these metrics into one real-time dashboard, covering temperatures, sensors, logged-in users and container engines such as Docker and LXC.
It runs in the terminal by default, and in client/server mode you can monitor remote machines through the terminal, a web interface, or a RESTful API. Stats can also be exported to CSV, JSON, STDOUT, or external databases and brokers. AI assistants can query it directly through the built-in MCP server. It is written in Python and built on an open plugin architecture.
Glances suits system administrators and developers who want quick visibility into one or many hosts. It installs easily with pip, uvx, or Docker.
