Overview

Managing a growing e-book library across formats and devices is tedious: files need converting, metadata needs fixing, and books must be moved onto e-readers by hand. calibre is an e-book manager that handles these jobs in one desktop application. It can view, convert, edit and catalog e-books in all of the major formats, talk to e-book reader devices, and fetch metadata for your books from the internet. It can also download newspapers and turn them into e-books for reading. calibre runs on Linux, Windows and macOS. Its source code is published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license, while bug reports and feature requests are tracked on Launchpad. The project is developed by volunteers from around the world. It suits readers, collectors and anyone who wants a local, organized e-book library they control. The application is installed on your computer, and its User Manual describes how to use it.
