Overview

Sales, marketing and support teams often keep leads, contacts, deals and customer cases in scattered spreadsheets and separate tools. EspoCRM is a free, open-source CRM platform that stores and organizes this business information in a single, simple web interface. It covers leads, contacts, sales opportunities, marketing campaigns and support cases. EspoCRM is a web application with a single-page frontend and a REST API backend written in PHP. It can be installed manually, by script, or with Docker and Traefik, and it runs on MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL. Its source code is licensed under AGPL-3.0, and developers can add custom entities, fields, relationships and buttons, and connect other applications through the API. The tool suits startups, small and medium-sized businesses, and larger organizations that want a self-hosted CRM. It also fits developers who need a customizable platform for building business applications. The project is maintained by the EspoCRM team, with documentation and a community forum for administrators, users and developers.

Development

See the developer documentation.

We highly recommend using an IDE for development. The backend codebase adheres to SOLID principles, utilizes interfaces, static typing and generics. We recommend to start learning EspoCRM from the Dependency Injection article in the documentation.

Metadata plays an integral role in the EspoCRM application. All possible parameters are described with a JSON Schema, meaning you will have autocompletion in the IDE. You can also find the full metadata reference in the documentation.

The frontend is an SPA built on a custom framework. It utilizes nested views and service DI, with the core partially written in TypeScript. Developers primarily work with existing form and field view implementations.
