Overview

Teams that want file sync, sharing and collaboration without handing their data to a third-party cloud need a storage system they can run themselves. Seafile is an open-source cloud storage system with privacy protection and teamwork features, organized around libraries that can each be synced separately and optionally encrypted with a user-chosen password. Beyond basic sync, Seafile adds selective folder sync, history-based conflict handling, delta transfers with resumable uploads, password-protected download links, upload links and version control. Its metadata layer supports extensible file properties and views such as table, Kanban, gallery, map and statistics, plus integrations with OnlyOffice and Collabora, a built-in SeaDoc editor and wiki knowledge bases. Seafile suits organizations and individuals who need a private file server with desktop, mobile and WebDAV access. Its server components are released under AGPLv3, with Apache and GPL licenses for the web UI and clients.
