Teams building websites, apps, or IoT products often need structured content they can manage without hand-writing an admin panel and API for every content type. Strapi solves this by letting developers define content models visually in the Content-Type Builder, then automatically generating REST and GraphQL APIs for each one, ready to be consumed by any frontend or device. The platform includes granular roles and permissions, a built-in media library, internationalization, and draft and publish workflows. It is written entirely in JavaScript and TypeScript, supports SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB, and offers an extensible plugin system and a customizable admin dashboard. Strapi can be self-hosted, installed with a single npx create-strapi command, run in Docker, or deployed to Strapi Cloud. It is aimed at developers who want full control over their content backend.
