Termux is an Android terminal application that gives you a Linux-style shell and command line directly on your phone or tablet, without rooting the device. It lets you run common command-line tools and development utilities that would otherwise require a full computer. The app provides the terminal emulator and user interface, while the software you install inside it is managed through Termux package tools such as apt and pkg. A set of optional plugin apps, including Termux:API, Termux:Boot and Termux:Widget, extend it with access to device features and startup or home screen integrations. Termux suits developers, system administrators and students who want a portable Linux environment on Android. It is free and open-source, with the app available through F-Droid and GitHub. Note that on Android 12 and later the system may terminate background processes.
