Overview

Teams often juggle issue trackers, sprint boards, and documentation across separate tools, which adds overhead to planning and tracking work. Plane brings these into one open-source project management platform, covering work items, cycles, modules, views, pages, and analytics. Work items use a rich text editor with file uploads and sub-properties, and can reference related issues. Cycles include burn-down charts to track sprint progress, modules split large projects into smaller parts, and saved views filter issues down to what matters. Pages capture notes and documents with AI assistance and can turn text into actionable items. Plane can be used on Plane Cloud or self-hosted with Docker or Kubernetes, and is licensed under AGPL-3.0. It suits product, engineering, and operations teams that want an open-source alternative to Jira, Linear, or similar tools while keeping control of their data.
