Overview

Teams and organizations that need to plan projects, track tasks and bugs, and coordinate work often rely on proprietary SaaS tools that keep their data outside their control. OpenProject addresses this by bringing project, portfolio and product management into a single web-based platform that can be self-hosted. Its key capabilities include agile boards with Kanban, Scrum and SAFe support, project scheduling with Gantt charts, product and release planning, task and bug tracking, time tracking, cost reporting and budgeting. Teams can also collaborate through wikis, forums, news and meeting agendas, with integrations for Nextcloud, XWiki, GitHub and GitLab. OpenProject is aimed at enterprises, public institutions and regulated industries that want a Jira-style alternative with full control of their data and infrastructure. It is licensed under GPL-3.0 and available as a free Community edition for self-hosting, as well as an Enterprise edition in cloud or on-premises form.
