storybook

From public sources

Storybook is an open-source CLI-driven UI development tool for building, documenting, and testing frontend components in isolation across React, Vue, Angular, and more.

Overview

Teams building user interfaces often struggle to develop and review components without running the full application, which slows down design reviews, makes edge cases hard to reproduce, and leaves documentation out of date. Storybook solves this by providing a workshop where each UI component and page can be rendered in isolation, with its states captured as stories. Storybook supports a wide range of renderers, including React, Angular, Vue 3, Svelte, Web Components, HTML, Ember, Preact, and React Native. Its addon ecosystem covers component documentation, accessibility testing, interaction testing, and design asset previews, and its API lets teams configure and extend the workshop to fit their own pipeline. Storybook is released under the MIT license and is used by developers, designers, and QA engineers who work on design systems and component libraries. It is installed into an existing frontend project through its command-line interface.[...]

yarn start

Runs a sandbox template storybook with test stories

yarn task

As above, but gives you options to customize the sandbox (e.g. selecting other frameworks)

yarn lint

boolean check if code conforms to linting rules - uses remark & eslint

  • yarn lint:js - will check js
  • yarn lint:md - will check markdown + code samples
  • yarn lint:js --fix - will automatically fix js
yarn test

boolean check if unit tests all pass - uses jest

  • yarn run test --core --watch - will run core tests in watch-mode
