Overview
Creating 2D animation frame by frame takes large teams and long production times. Synfig Studio solves this by letting animators build motion from vector and bitmap artwork, so fewer people and resources are needed to reach a higher level of quality.
Synfig Studio is a desktop application for Windows, Linux and macOS, written in C++ with a GTK-based interface. It is designed as an industrial-strength tool for film-style 2D animation, and its source code is maintained as an official open-source repository.
The project is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. It suits independent animators, studios and hobbyists who want a free, self-contained 2D animation pipeline. Installation packages and build-from-source instructions are available in the project documentation.
