Overview
Writing project documentation as plain Markdown is simple, but turning those files into a fast, navigable website usually means configuring a heavy build pipeline. VitePress is a static site generator powered by Vue and Vite that converts Markdown files into a complete documentation site with minimal setup.
It is a spiritual successor to VuePress and is built on top of Vite, so pages are rendered with Vue components and development uses Vite's fast hot module reloading. Markdown content can embed Vue components directly, and the generated site is static HTML that can be hosted on any static host.
VitePress suits developers and teams who want to publish project documentation, knowledge bases or similar content. It is released under the MIT license and is available as a command-line tool from npm.
