Overview
Teams that need chat, file sharing and workflow automation often end up with tools that send their conversations to third-party clouds. Mattermost is an open core, self-hosted collaboration platform that covers chat, workflow automation, voice calling, screen sharing and AI integration, so an organization can keep its messages on its own infrastructure.
The server is written in Go and React, runs as a single Linux binary and uses PostgreSQL for storage. Native clients are available for web, Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux, and the platform can be extended through APIs, webhooks, slash commands, apps and plugins.
It is aimed at engineering, DevSecOps and IT service desk teams who want secure communication and incident coordination in one place. The core code is released under the MIT license, with new compiled versions published monthly, and it can be deployed on premises with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm or from a tar archive.
